Natasha Jain

Natasha Jain is a Master of Psychology (Clinical) candidate at the University of New South Wales. She is also a provisional psychologist currently undergoing her clinical training. Natasha completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours Class 1) at the University of New South Wales in 2018, under the supervision of A/Prof Kimonis. Her project involved developing and validating the UNSW Empathy Scale, which is a new parent-report questionnaire for measuring empathy in young children aged between 2 and 8 years old. Her project found preliminary evidence supporting the psychometric properties of UNSW Empathy Scale, and thus Natasha aims to continue investigating this tool. She hopes that it may eventually provide clinicians with a new instrument with which to accurately detect empathic deficits. In the future, Natasha aims to aid in the early detection and intervention of mental health problems in children and adolescents. She is especially interested in this younger age group, as they are prone to a range of unique stressors and often lack the ability to express their experience. Her ultimate goal is to provide this population with the language, support and tools that they need to overcome their issues and place them on a positive developmental trajectory.
