Now Recruiting: Healthy, Typically-Developing Children

Parent and child stress, attention, and behaviour study

We are child psychology researchers who are interested in discovering more about the causes of children’s disruptive behaviour problems. In order for us to learn more about the causes of problem behaviour, it’s critical that we understand typical development in healthy children and families.

If you are a parent with a healthy, typically-developing child between the ages of 18 months and 8 years old, we would love to have your help with this important research!

Our current research project is interested in finding out whether there is a relationship between how parent and child stress levels are synced, and children’s emotional and behavioural problems. To participate, you and your child would give us several saliva samples before, during, and after you play together, which we would test for stress hormone levels. This study is currently being run by Professor Eva Kimonis, Ms Silvana Kaouar, and Mr Daniel Thierry, School of Psychology.

For your family’s participation, your child will receive a small toy and certificate to thank them for all their hard work!

If you are interested in participating in this research, please click the link below to read more about this project and submit an expression of interest form.

You will not be able to participate in this study if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as this affects stress hormones found in your saliva.
